You can take these to your contractor, and they can give you an estimate on both options. Then you can decide which one works best for your family. 3. Bathroom design

I can help you update your existing bathroom while making the process easy and fun! If you are looking to completely renovate and move fixtures around, then I can create new design options with 3D views so that you can see exactly how your new bathroom will look! From there, your contractor can price out the options. I can also assist with the selection process by accompanying you to the various showrooms making the entire renovation less stressful and more fun!

4. Space planning

Are you looking to purchase furniture but have no idea what sizes to look for? Maybe you are tired of your existing furniture layout but aren’t sure of how to changes things around. I can help by creating new furniture layouts that include any existing furniture pieces you’d like to keep as well as new pieces. With these layouts, you will be able to know the exact sizes of any new pieces so that when you visit the furniture showrooms, you can be sure you are looking at furniture that will work with the size of your space.

5. Accessory selection

Are you looking to spruce up your family room or dining room? I can help give these rooms a completely new look by changing out a few key items! You’d be surprised how much a new rug or different pieces of artwork can drastically change the look and feel of a room!

Requirements when availing of interior design services

An initial consultation is suggested so that I can review your existing space and have a better idea of the scope of the project. During the consultation, you can ask questions and share your ideas and expectations.

b. Measurements

Space planning begins with measuring the overall length and width of a room. It may even involve measuring each wall from corner to corner and noting the size and placement of architectural elements such as doors, windows, fireplaces, and staircases. Solely owned and operated by yours truly, I started this business in January of 2011, and currently, it is a leading design firm specializing in home renovations, remodeling, and other real estate services.

I serve the city of Richmond, Virginia, and surrounding counties and am available from Monday to Friday 8 AM to 5 PM and even after-hours on weekends by appointment. I can also remotely assist out-of-state clientele and offer design consultation services on-site or at my office. In February of this year (2021), I celebrate ten years since my business’s initiation and could not be more thrilled. Business is booming, and I am busy pretty much all year round, with a peak coming during the holiday season.

Another aspect that makes me the best choice for upcoming projects is that I make the design process fun, straightforward and tasteful.

I’m Stephanie Casey, the proud owner of Stephanie Casey Interiors . I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.

Having been interested in design and architecture since my days at Midlothian High School, and after completing my bachelor’s degree in interior design from Virginia Tech, I began my career with Moseley architects working on the commercial side of interior design.

While I enjoyed the challenges of working with a significant architectural firm and collaborating with many prominent designers and professionals, I wanted to help more people make the most out of their spaces. After years of working for various design companies and needing increased flexibility in my work, in 2011, I decided to take the leap to self-sufficiency and started Stephanie Casey Interiors to a tremendous response.

Since starting over ten years ago, the business has grown tremendously. I have gone from strength to strength in my business reach and made great connections with my referral partners and past clientele.

The part of my business that I find most enjoyable is getting to know my clients and helping them add personality to their homes. I love the unpredictability of my day and appreciate that I learn something new almost every day.

In my business, I believe that genuinely listening is the key to understanding and take the time to get to know my clients personally. I love what I do, and it shows in the level of perfection I routinely execute.

As an individual, I believe what sets me apart from the others is my integrity, innovation, and the respect I afford everyone I meet. I think honesty, passion, and a need to have fun with my work are essential and my trademark and visible to all to see.

How To Inexpensively Upgrade Your Home: Tip 2! Framed Mirrors!

Mirrors can be used anywhere and everywhere and are great for making small rooms appear larger. Mirrors can add a lot of dimension to your space and much more! They give off a sense of style and elegance while completing the look of any room.

Now lets take a moment and focus on a room where the use of a mirror determine the rooms ambiance. The Bathroom!! Do the mirrors in your bathrooms look like either of these?

If yes, then it’s time for an upgrade!

Now there is nothing wrong with either of these mirrors. Yes, they are very simplistic; yet, functional… actually they are the same mirrors the contractor installed in my bathrooms before I moved into my new house.

So what’s the problem you ask? Well, nothing…except they are lacking one crucial element: personality. To me, they make the bathroom feel unfinished. But there is a very easy solution!!! By adding a simple frame you can take your plain mirror and turn it into an elegant focal point above your vanity!!

So now let’s look at some bathrooms with unframed mirrors versus a few with frames! Which do you like better?

The photo on the left is a perfect example of a contractor-grade mirror. The nice part is that it spans across the entire vanity! But as demonstrated in the photo on the right, by adding a simple frame or some molding, you can still have your large mirror and have a finished look!

For the photo on the left: I would suggest adding a very simplistic brown or copper frame. Because of the detail of the tile on the wall, less is definitely more! However, a simple frame would complete the look. The photo on the right is an excellent example of how a mirror can turn a boring bathroom vanity into a luxurious looking space!

I decided it would be fun to create color schemes from photos!! Below is one that my friend took of a Crocus flower. The first image shows colors that are directly from the photo, the second image matches colors from the photo to exact Sherwin Williams color numbers.

Are you ready for color? I know I am!!!

Can you imagine living in a world where color doesn’t exist?… Well, I’m sorry to say but many of us already are! I don’t literally mean that some of us are living in a world of black and white, but yet, how many times do you go into someone’s home (maybe even your home) to find white, cream, or gray walls? I think there are many reasons why this happens so often, but here is a couple.

First, I believe that some of us have no idea where to start. Which colors to use, which walls to paint, and most importantly how to coordinate colors with the furniture and accessories that we already have. Another reason could be the “I’ll get to it later” mentality. You move into your new apartment, home, condo, etc.. and at first, you are excited and can’t wait to unpack and get everything all set up in your new place. You think, wow! This place is going to look amazing once I get settled in and get around to painting!!! Then you just stop there. Days go by, weeks, months, and sometimes even years!! And by then, it’s sometimes too late! You’re already moving out and into your next place and you never even touched a paintbrush to the walls.

Psychology Of Color

Color psychology is based on the psychological aspects and functions of color. It is a universal language and one of the fastest ways of communication. Behind every color and shade or hue is a meaning and an emotional message.

Did you know that by using color psychology, you can send a positive or negative message, encourage sales, calm a crowd, make an athlete pump iron harder, and help create the right mood for interior space?

In this post we will go over some basic tips for applying the psychology of color in interior design courtesy of www.dreamhomedecorating.com . We will explore the psychology of specific colors in more detail over my next few posts!

Research has shown that people are affected by color, so here are some helpful guidelines when decorating your home.

Saturated colors from the yellow/orange/red section of the color wheel tend to raise our energy levels, while colors from the blue/green section calm us down, both physically and emotionally.
Neutral color schemes are generally found relaxing (and boring, by some – it does take a bit of practice to make a neutral color scheme look stylish.)
Dark colors generally make a room feel smaller; it doesn’t really matter if they are ‘warm’ or ‘cool’ colors. (On the other hand, it takes more than light wall color to make a room seem larger than it is.)
Some color combinations are loved almost universally; for example, blue combined with neutrals (blue is the majority’s favorite color).

It’s important to remember that colors affect people differently and that no two people will see and respond to a specific color in the same way. Also, colors have different meanings in different culture’s. For example most of the world associates “white” with purity (wedding dresses) and cleanliness (doctors in white coats).

However, in some eastern parts of the world, white is associated with mourning. And finally, colors will ultimately bring back personal memories and feelings.

So when you are selecting colors for your home make sure you keep the following in mind:

How you will use the space? For example, a deep red or burgundy is a very traditional color to use for a dining room in Richmond, VA. The same colors would not; however, be as successful in a home office or bedroom.
At which time of the day will you be using the space? Remember that lighting plays a huge part in how a color looks and how it affects you. So make sure you consider how much light and the types of light being used when you selecting colors.
How do you want to feel when you’re in the space? Excited, relaxed, energized? Trust yourself! You know what you like and don’t like, so have fun! ��
